Economic empowerment of women
As part of a project to strengthen household financial security, the ASAF organised a week of awareness-raising for women in the Kabindula District on the approach of Village Savings and Credit Associations (Associations Villageoises d’Epargne et de crédit (AVEC)). A total of 124 women were grouped through 6 Village Savings and Credit Associations. They were trained and supported by the association team throughout the 10 month cycle. These 6 groups obtained support in the structuring and development of collective Income Generating Activities (Activités Génératrices des Revenus (AGR)), including manufacturing and marketing of soap, mango juice and tomato jam. This project allowed the women to mobilise savings and initiate activities that generate income for them and their communities.
